Got a phone call from a member who had problem's with a Crow that was obviously having post World Cup problems. The crow in question had decided to play football with a ball that had come to rest on the 9th fairway and what was our player to do? Rule 18 covers " ball at rest moved".

In this case the ball must be replaced in the position where it had originally came to rest. Rule 19  covers "ball in motion deflected or stopped" and it has some interesting Decisions.

For instance, if a ball is played from OFF a green and is about a foot from the hole when it is deflected by a dog to a position 10 feet from the hole, then it must be played from it's new position. If the dog had picked up the ball then it could be replaced as near as possible to the position where it was when picked up - always providing the ball was in motion.

If the ball had been played from ON the green and a dog had either picked it up or deflected it, then the stroke is cancelled and the ball must be replaced.
